The Sewell Reserve Stormwater Harvesting Project involved the capture and use of stormwater runoff to irrigate the football oval at Sewell Reserve which is on Glenroy Road, Glenroy.
The works involved the construction of a diversion pit on Glenroy Road to redirect stormwater into Sewell Reserve. The redirected stormwater passes through a sedimentation pit and litter net, then onward to a rain garden for filtration. Once cleaned and filtered, the stormwater water is pumped into two tanks with a total capacity of 766,000 litres for storage. As required, the stored water is pumped through UV treatment and further filtration before being used to irrigate the football oval at Sewell Reserve. In fact, this system is designed to deliver some 80% of the water required to irrigate the oval per annum.
Works commenced in October 2011 and were completed in February 2012. Evergreen Civil are proud to have delivered The Sewell Reserve Stormwater Harvesting Project for the City of Moreland.
